IAN CHEETHAM SENTENCED IN BIRMINGHAM FOR ONLINE CHILD SEX OFFENCES
Ian Cheetham, a 39-year-old with no fixed address, has been sentenced to four years and eight months in prison at Birmingham Crown Court for serious online sexual offenses.Cheetham engaged in deceptive and manipulative tactics by posing as a teenager on social media platforms to contact young boys.
He used this fake identity to initiate conversations with minors, exploiting their vulnerabilities for his own disturbing gratification.
Police investigations revealed that he shared explicit images and videos with boys all under the age of 15.
His criminal activities included sending and sharing indecent images, engaging in sexual conversations, encouraging sexual acts, and exposing children to sexual content, with evidence spanning from December 2021 to April 2023.
To facilitate these predatory behaviors, Cheetham falsely claimed to be a teenager himself.
Authorities seized his electronic devices, discovering over 70 indecent images of children.
The police described his conduct as 'deplorable' and noted that he exploited the trust of vulnerable minors.
He has also been placed under an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
The judge ordered that Cheetham serve his sentence before being subject to an extended licence period of over four more years.
