NORTHAMPTON PAEDOPHILE HOWARD BURGESS JAILED FOR HISTORIC SEX OFFENCES
A man from Northampton, Howard Burgess, has been sentenced to prison after being convicted of abusing boys over twenty years ago.
Burgess, who previously resided on Meltham Close in Northampton, appeared at Northampton Crown Court on August 22, where he was found guilty of eight counts of gross indecency with a child.
Northamptonshire Police confirmed that the 59-year-old targeted multiple boys many years in the past.
The investigation was initiated in February 2021 after a man reported to authorities that he had been sexually abused as a child in Northampton.
Following the sentencing, Detective Constable Adam Kelly expressed pride in the survivors who came forward.
He stated, “I commend all the men who have shown so much bravery in reporting these offences.
“Although these crimes occurred over two decades ago, the passage of time did not prevent justice.
The victims have endured the effects of Burgess’ actions for a long time, and I hope that seeing him convicted and imprisoned offers some degree of closure as they continue their healing process.
“Their dignity and resilience have been crucial in holding Burgess accountable and ensuring he is now behind bars, preventing any further harm.” Howard Burgess received a sentence of seven years' imprisonment.
Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely, stay under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order until further notice, and potentially be placed on the barred list by the Disclosure and Barring Service.
