HOMELESS CHEF SENTENCED FOR THREATENING EX-PARTNER WITH KNIFE

A 40-year-old man named Hedi Mohammed confessed to police that he had stolen a knife from a supermarket with the intent to kill his former partner.

During the court hearing at Nottingham Crown Court, he stated that if he was released from custody, he would follow through on his threat and harm her.

The victim provided an impact statement describing how she feels constantly unsafe in her own home, having to reinforce her doors and windows, and experiencing anxiety and nightmares.

She is even considering moving away from the village to escape him.

Judge James Sampson sentenced Mohammed to 18 months in prison and highlighted the severity of his actions, noting that she felt unsafe, had to change her security measures, and was troubled by his threatening behavior.

Mohammed's threats included statements about wanting to kill her and possessing a knife for that purpose, which he admitted had been stolen for that reason.

He had left menacing voicemails saying, 'I am going to get you.' The court also heard that he was homeless at the time, living near Morrisons in Sutton Road, Mansfield, and had been recognized by store security.

When police arrested him, he had a yellow box cutter on him and stated that he intended to use it to kill his ex-partner and that he wanted to kill anybody.

Mohammed pleaded guilty to harassment, possession of a bladed article, and making threats to kill.

The woman spoke of her ongoing fear, anxiety, and her considerations of moving house.

The prosecution's case was presented by Stuart Pattinson, who emphasized the threatening and abusive nature of Mohammed's actions.

His behavior was driven by desperation and homelessness, and he has no prior convictions.
