HAYDN NOLON FROM MACCLESFIELD SENTENCED FOR SEX OFFENCES AND HIGH RISK TO GIRLS
In August 2018, a serious case involving a sex offender from Macclesfield culminated in a significant prison sentence, highlighting the ongoing concerns about safeguarding young girls from predatory behavior.Haydn Nolon, aged 18, was found to pose a 'very high risk' to female minors and was subsequently sentenced to six years in a youth detention facility, with an additional four-year extended licence period to monitor his conduct post-release.
According to court proceedings, Nolon had engaged in grooming a young girl through social media platforms, specifically using Snapchat to communicate with her.
Unbeknownst to the girl, Nolon was a registered sex offender subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which was imposed on him when he was a juvenile following a sexual offence committed against a child under 16, as well as for possessing indecent images of children.
Despite these restrictions, Nolon flagrantly violated the terms of his SHPO, which the court described as a clear and deliberate breach.
During the hearing at Chester Crown Court, prosecutor Simon Parry detailed how Nolon used a Samsung mobile phone to groom the underage girl, requesting explicit images and engaging in sexual activity with her.
It was established that Nolon was aware of her age but continued to pursue contact, demonstrating a blatant disregard for the law and her safety.
The court heard that the girl later visited Nolon’s flat, where they engaged in sexual intercourse.
A victim impact statement was read aloud in court, revealing the profound emotional toll the incident had taken on her.
She expressed her distress, stating, “Since this happened I’ve not been able to get him out of my head.
I sit at home and cry.
I get upset and hate him for all his lies.
He’s messed my head up completely.” The statement also highlighted the ongoing effects of the trauma, including anxiety and academic difficulties, which she attributed to Nolon’s actions.
In addition to the sexual activity, Nolon pleaded guilty to a total of 12 offences.
These included inciting a child to engage in sexual acts, breaching the terms of a sexual notification order, and committing five breaches of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
The court emphasized the danger Nolon posed, with Judge Simon Berkson explicitly stating that he posed a 'very high risk of doing serious harm to female children.' In sentencing, Judge Berkson underscored the severity of Nolon’s violations and the threat he continued to represent, reflecting the judicial system’s commitment to protecting vulnerable minors from repeat offenders and ensuring that justice is served in cases involving sexual offences against children.
