A man has been banned from seeing his estranged wife after threatening to throw acid in her face and strangling her.The row between Hafees Ibrahim and his wife erupted after she refused his repeated requests for money.
Kirklees Magistrates' Court heard that at one point the 36-year-old Ibrahim grabbed a knife.
He pleaded not guilty to assault but was found guilty following a trial on November 22.
He was sentenced to a 12-month community order including 120 hours of unpaid work and was issued a restraining order for two years, which includes a ban on contacting his wife except via third parties for child arrangements.
Ibrahim, of Springwood Hall Gardens in Huddersfield, also ran towards her, grabbing her neck and strangling her so she had trouble breathing.
He also threatened to pour acid on her face and at one point attempted to hit her.
Mrs Lamadi sat on the stairs during the incident, which also involved Ibrahim pulling a knife from the kitchen drawer and putting it in his back pocket.
