GLENROTHES MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL ASSAULT ON EX-PARTNER WHILE HOLDING BABY
Graeme Bell, a man from Glenrothes, was sentenced at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court for assaulting his former partner while he was holding a baby. The incident took place at a house in Macduff Gardens on December 28.
The court heard Bell arrived at the property and started drinking.
Fiscal depute Lora Apostolova explained that Bell, who appeared via video link, became agitated and shouted loudly, with neighbours hearing raised voices.
Bell then punched his partner repeatedly on the head while he was still holding a baby, which was witnessed by several neighbors and led to police being contacted.
The woman suffered significant swelling to her left eye and lost a tooth.
Bell pleaded guilty on January 3 to injuring the woman, acting in a threatening or abusive manner, and breaching bail conditions by attending the property.
His solicitor acknowledged his past issues and mental health struggles, stating that Bell intends to seek help during his custodial time.
Sheriff Elizabeth McFarlane sentenced Bell to a year in prison and imposed a two-year non-harassment order, emphasizing that "Prison is the only way of dealing with you, Mr Bell," as the incidents occurred while he was on bail.
