TRANENT MAN JAILED FOR BREACHING BAIL TO CONTACT WOMAN
Gordon Whyte, aged 50, a resident of Fleets Road in Tranent, was found to have violated a court bail restriction that explicitly forbade him from making contact with a woman and entering Muirpark Terrace.
These bail conditions were established in relation to an alleged separate incident for which he appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court the previous month.
Despite the restrictions, Whyte attempted multiple phone calls to the woman and was seen in the area on several occasions between January 9 and 13.
He was taken into custody on January 13 and appeared before the city court, where he admitted to breaching the bail conditions.
Recently, Sheriff John Cook sentenced him to a two-month prison term.
Furthermore, the sheriff issued a five-year non-harassment order preventing him from contacting the woman and entering the street in Tranent.
