GEORGE SAYLE CAUGHT IN DOUGLAS SEA INCIDENT WHILE ON SEX OFFENDERS REGISTER

In a concerning incident that took place in Douglas, a 28-year-old man named Geoffrey Paul Sayle has been found to have violated a court order related to his status as a registered sex offender.

The breach occurred when Sayle approached a group of young boys while they were enjoying their time playing in the sea along the Douglas promenade.

According to reports, Sayle was taken into custody on May 22 after a witness observed his actions near the water at the northern end of the promenade, close to the Terminus Tavern.

The witness, who recognized Sayle and was aware of his status on the sex offenders register, immediately contacted the police to report the incident.

During a court appearance before the deputy high bailiff, Sayle admitted to the offence, acknowledging that he had approached the children despite the restrictions placed upon him as a registered sex offender.

The prosecution highlighted that Sayle's actions constituted a clear breach of the court order designed to protect the public from potential harm.

Following his arrest, Sayle was granted bail, with a court date set for July 9, when he is scheduled to be sentenced for the breach.

The case has raised concerns within the community about the effectiveness of monitoring and the ongoing risks posed by individuals on the sex offenders register, especially in public spaces such as Douglas.
