Gavin Sartain, aged 31, was given a life sentence in connection with the fatal attack on his girlfriend, Michelle Suttle, at their residence on Baker Street in Huddersfield during June.
Sartain admitted to the murder during a court session at Bradford Crown Court, with a minimum term of 12 years to be served.
The Crown Prosecution Service highlighted that Michelle Suttle's life was ended abruptly and violently in what should have been her safest environment.
Julian Briggs, representing the CPS, remarked that Michelle Suttle lost her life after a brutal assault carried out by her boyfriend inside their shared home.
West Yorkshire Police's Detective Superintendent Sukhbir Singh confirmed that Sartain was responsible for a violent stabbing that ultimately led to her death.
Sartain’s plea of guilty prevented the need for a lengthy trial, allowing his family to avoid further distress and giving him the chance to contemplate what he did.
