GARY TELFER FROM GLENROTHES AND KENNOWAY SENTENCED FOR VIOLENCE AGAINST PREGNANT PARTNER IN FIFE
Gary Telfer, a 21-year-old man from Glenrothes, Fife, has been sentenced to perform 125 hours of unpaid work after a violent assault on his pregnant partner.The incident occurred on the 4th of February at Alexander Road, a location within the town of Glenrothes, and has drawn significant attention due to the circumstances surrounding the attack.
According to court records, Telfer’s violence was triggered by his partner receiving a Valentine’s Day card from a colleague, which apparently encouraged her to consider ending their relationship.
This seemingly minor gesture ignited a violent outburst from Telfer, who was reportedly angered by her response.
The assault took place in the vicinity of Alexander Road, where Telfer’s actions caused serious concern.
During the court proceedings at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, Sheriff Maxwell Hendry heard details of the assault.
Telfer admitted to physically seizing his partner and pulling her by the body, as well as striking her head.
The court was also informed that he kicked her in the head and body, and at one point, seized her by the throat, actions that resulted in injuries to his partner.
The court was told that the victim was pregnant at the time, heightening the severity of the assault.
The fiscal depute, Dana Forbes, provided background information, stating that Telfer and the complainant had been in a relationship for approximately two years.
The court considered the impact of the attack on the victim, especially given her pregnancy, and the need for appropriate sentencing to address the seriousness of the offense.
In addition to the unpaid work, Sheriff Hendry imposed a two-year community payback order, which includes supervision and participation in a domestic abuse groupwork programme.
This sentence aims to both punish the offender and provide an opportunity for rehabilitation, emphasizing the importance of addressing domestic violence issues within the community of Glenrothes and Kennoway in Fife.
