MAN JAILED FOR DECADE-LONG SPREE OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND ABUSE
A man named Gary Mitchell, aged 45, has been imprisoned for over four years after admitting to a series of serious abusive and violent acts against four women.Mitchell subjected his victims to repeated abuse, including assault and threats, spanning over a decade.
Notably, he strangled his ex-wife Deborah Kemp to the point that he "endangered her life" and caused her to crash her car deliberately.
He also repeatedly followed, contacted, and harassed three women, including his ex-wife and others, at their homes in Glenrothes, Fife.
In his previous acts of domestic violence, Mitchell entered Deborah Kemp's house uninvited, removed her telephone cable, and physically assaulted her by pushing, pinning, straddling, and strangling her, endangering her life.
His abuse extended over several years, during which he repeatedly contacted her via phone and text, followed her, and damaged her property.
Mitchell also attacked Laura Hutchison in 2004, again strangling her, and engaged in similar threatening behaviors with Fiona Morrison over a period exceeding 16 months.
In a November 2013 incident, Mitchell, who was then a prisoner, violently assaulted Michelle Beard by hitting her over the head with her mobile, resulting in injury.
Despite having no prior violent offenses, Mitchell's pattern of abusive behavior was deemed serious by the court.
Sheriff James Williamson sentenced Mitchell to four years and one month in prison, acknowledging his guilty plea to a "catalogue of serious domestic violence over a prolonged period".
