MAN GROOMED GIRL, 13, HE MET ON POOLE HOLIDAY INTO SEX
A MAN groomed a 13-year-old girl he met on holiday into having sex, a court has heard.Frankie Woolmore, 21 and of Hayes, was 18-years-old when he took the girl to a woodland for sex and later booked a romantic hotel room for them.
Prosecutor Thomas Horder told Bournemouth Crown Court the pair met at Haven Rockley Holiday Park in June 2022 when Woolmore was a month away from turning 18.
Mr Horder said the defendant was told from the outset the girl was 13-years-old, but went onto message her daily after leaving the holiday park.
He also sent her a promise ring and offered to give her money for beauty treatments.
While on a video call, the defendant told the victim’s mother that he was 16-years-old and would wait until the girl was old enough before starting a relationship.
However, he was sending the girl graphic sexual messages.
Mr Horder said Woolmore knew what he was doing was wrong because he told the victim to lie to her friend about his true age.
Otherwise I’ll look like a peado.
On September 12, 2022, the victim’s mother discovered Woolmore’s true age and prohibited a relationship, but this did not stop him.
He sent the girl a video of him masturbating and encouraged her to send photos of herself.
In September the defendant met the girl in Poole and brought alcohol for them to drink.
She told police it was the first time she had properly drank alcohol and felt ‘weird’ and ‘completely out of it’.
After going for a walk in a woodland, Woolmore initiated sex.
The girl said she cried after and called a friend to meet her.
She added she felt like she had messed up and done something she did not want to do.
On September 30, 2022, the girl’s mother found out and contacted the police.
Officers spoke to the victim but were not able to make contact with Woolmore.
On October 29, 2022, the defendant booked a Holiday Inn Express in Poole and specifically requested on the booking for it to be romantic with flowers and petals.
After running out of her house with a bag, the girl’s mother reported her missing to the police.
The victim later said how she fell asleep in the hotel but was woken by the defendant wanting sex.
Police arrived the next morning and arrested Woolmore.
Despite his arrest, the defendant continued to contact the girl and told her to support him by not giving a statement to the police.
In a victim impact statement read to the court, the girl said she felt “isolated from the world” as well as embarrassed and insecure when he asked for photos of her.
She said she suffers from anxiety, flashbacks and sleepless nights.
Mitigating, Tom Mayall, said Woolmore has shown remorse for the offences.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of having sex with a child, engaging in sexual communication with a child, causing a child to engage in sexual activity, causing a child to look at sexual activity and two counts of making indecent photos of children.
Judge Robert Pawson said the defendant suffered physical violence and neglect as a child.
Woolmore is diagnosed with PTSD, anxiety and depression.
“You may be 18 but your mental age is significantly lower than that,” said Judge Pawson.
He added: “I have a duty to punish you but also to safeguard the public and make sure you are rehabilitated.” Woolmore was given a one-year and seven-month sentence, suspended for two years.
He was handed a restraining order and made subject to the sex offenders register for 10 years.
He will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order for eight years.
