POOLE MAN JAILED FOR RAPING AND STRANGLING WOMAN HE MET IN BOURNEMOUTH
A ‘DESPICABLE’ man strangled and raped a woman he met on a night out in Bournemouth.Alfie Wise, 22 and of Poole, violently attacked the woman, who was aged in her late teens, and left her with a severe fracture to her neck.
It was said the pair met through mutual friends while on a night out in Bournemouth on Saturday, August 27, 2024.
Wise and the woman went back to an address in Poole with others the next morning, where he sexually assaulted and then raped her.
During the attack, Wise left her with a fractured thyroid cartilage in her neck, which protects the vocal cords.
The victim reported the offences to the police later that day and was reportedly supported through The Shores Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) and then through an Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA).
Following an investigation by police, Wise was arrested and later charged.
The defendant denied the offences and underwent a trial at Bournemouth Crown Court.
He was later found guilty of rape, sexual assault and assault by penetration.
Wise previously pleaded guilty to intentional strangulation.
Dorset Police said Wise is a British national who defined himself as being of white British nationality.
Wise was jailed for six years and nine months, during a sentencing at Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday, April 17.
Detective Constable Tasha Beaufils, of BCP CID, said: “We have carried out a detailed investigation to compile evidence and build a case against Alfie Wise.
“However, it was the courage of the victim in coming forward and giving evidence at court, that helped to ensure we were able to secure a conviction so he could be held to account for his despicable offending.
“I hope the bravery she has shown will help give strength to other victims to come forward, in the knowledge that we will continue to do all we can to ensure they are fully supported and perpetrators are brought to justice.”
