LINCOLN MAN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON VULNERABLE TEENAGER
A man named Francis Dover from Lincoln was convicted of raping and sexually abusing an 18-year-old girl with learning difficulties. The incident took place in August 2006, where Dover had supplied the girl with alcohol and bought her clothes after being trusted by her father to take her out.
Instead of being accompanied by the trusted adult, Dover met the teenager alone and carried out sexual assaults.
He denied two charges of rape, claiming the girl seduced him, but was found guilty by a jury earlier that year.
Dover was sentenced to seven years in prison.
In addition to the prison term, he was registered on the sex offenders register for life, banned from contacting the victim, and issued a Sexual Offences Prevention Order.
The judge remarked that the case lacked substantial mitigating features and condemned Dover for insulting the girl by accusing her of seduction during his trial.
