PERVERT BURGLAR 'STROKED WOMAN'S FOOT AS SHE SLEPT WITH BABY' AFTER STEALING ADULT TOYS FOR 'SEX ROOM'

A terrifying sexual predator who stole a woman's sex toys returned to her home and stroked her foot as she slept beside her baby.

Father-of-one Ference Bogdan, 33, targeted two women during a campaign of terror that saw him sneak into their homes and steal sex toys and rearranged their underwear.

The first woman he targeted noticed her personal items were missing after Bogdan entered her home in November 2023.

Prosecutor Jayne Beckett told Leeds Crown Court on Friday (November 7): "The woman rented a studio in Huddersfield.

On the first of November 2023, at around 1pm, she went out to the shops.

She locked her own door and returned around 7.30pm.

"Her studio door was closed but not locked but she didn't process at the time.

Her items from her bedside table were not in the drawer.

It had been rummaged through and there was underwear, condoms, lube and books on the floor.

She was concerned by that but didn't take action.

The next day she looked for a black cosmetics bag in which she kept her sex toys and couldn't find it.

She called the police and reported it and changed her locks." On the evening of November 24, 2023, the woman went to bed, leaving a side window open.

At around 5.30am, she stirred and heard a "rustling noise" before a feeling came over her that she was being watched.

Ms Beckett said: "He was watching her.

She was in complete shock and shouted, it was something like 'Get the f*** out, go, go go.' She thought the defendant spoke to her.

He then retreated through the side window which must have allowed him to enter.

She processed her situation, and in her words 'freaked out' and called the police." The court heard the first victim identified items seized from Bogdan's home as hers.

Ms Beckett said of a second woman targeted by Bogdan: "Around two weeks before the second burglary she noticed that her Samsung tablet and her adult toys, which were kept in a drawstring bag, had gone missing.

She didn't know what had caused the items to go missing and she convinced herself that she had just put them out of the way.

She ransacked the house looking for them...She last saw them in her bedside cabinet.

By the time she made her initial statement, she felt as if someone had entered her house and had been able to steal the toys and the tablet." The court heard that on September 28, 2024, the woman was asleep at her home when she was "disturbed" at around 2am.

The prosecutor said: "She felt a stroke down the middle of her foot.

She opened her eyes and saw the defendant crouching on his tiptoes.

"The defendant left the bedroom but returned around one or two minutes later.

He entered slowly and in a slouched position.

He walked to the bottom of her bed where she remained laid on her front.

The defendant put his finger on her bottom and moved it to her waist between the skin and her underwear." The woman then "flipped over" and shouted at him: "What are you doing, who are you?".

Bogdan did the same on the other side of the woman's waist, before pulling her underwear down.

The woman then "flipped over" and shouted at him: "What are you doing, who are you?".

In his police interview, Bogdan - who has a previous caution for harassment - answered "no comment" but handed officers a prepared statement denying the offences and claiming he had a friend who he was with at the time of the offences.

The court heard the friend was contacted and would not support Bogdan.

The second woman bravely faced Bogdan in court on Friday and read her victim personal statement, in which she said: "From the moment he stepped into my home and made the decision to steal some of the most personal items I own I have not been the same.

In the weeks leading up to the second offence, I questioned myself, I questioned my memory and even my sanity.

I genuinely felt like I was losing my mind.

"But nothing compares to the moment he entered my bedroom for that second time.

I have never felt such fear, lying in my own bed, my baby asleep next to me with a complete stranger touching me, not knowing if he had a knife or any other weapon.

It was the single most terrifying experience in my life.

In that moment I didn't have time to plan or think, I just had to survive.

"I'm just forever grateful that my brain chose the fight reflex.

It breaks me to think what would have happened otherwise.

Since that night, my life has changed in every way...There will be a time when I will no longer feel I'm living in a nightmare.

I hope the entire time I have to work through this anguish and trauma he has to live with his self-made consequences.

While I am reeling from this, I hope he is paying for this." A statement read out by the prosecution from the first woman targeted by Bogdan said: "As a result of this I have moved house.

I didn't feel safe and was terrified of the same happening again.

Now I have moved but I don't leave the window open at all and check the locks around eight times before I leave and once I return home.

"I felt completely violated following the incident, due to personal items that were taken and due to the nature of the most recent offence where the male climbed into my bedroom window and woke me up while he was watching over me." "I have always suffered with anxiety and depression but this has heightened it.

Prior to the incident, I was doing well and wasn't being prescribed medication.

Following the incident, I had to go back onto anti-anxiety and depression medication.

I was on this for approximately eight to 12 months and came off them again after moving to a new address." The court heard Bogdan, of Pollard Street, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, went on to admit two counts of burglary, sexual assault and trespass with intent.

Mitigating, Fuad Arshad, told the court: "Nothing I say can provide any comfort to [the victims].

It is plain that the defendant's behaviour towards them has been nothing less than devastating.

It is not dangerousness..

The professional opinion is that he poses a very high risk to the public.

"He has a 10-year-old son who no longer wishes to have anything to do with him.

He wishes to be deported back to Hungary.

There is a lack of acceptance and insight which may be as a as a consequence of shame and embarrassment...He has made good use of his time in prison." His Honour Judge Robin Mairs handed Bogdan an extended sentence of 16 years and 10 months, made up of 12 years and 10 months in custody, with an extended licence period of four years.

Bogdan must serve two-thirds of the custodial term in prison before the Parole Board determines if he is safe to be released.

The judge also made him the subject of a restraining order prohibiting him from contacting both victims.

The judge said: "I say at the outset that these are worrying and chilling offences.

You broke into the houses of women, stole sex toys and then returned weeks later.

You returned while intending to, or actually sexually assaulting them.

"I'm sentencing you for calculated and planned offences."
