FIFE MAN JAILED FOR SAVAGE DOMESTIC ASSAULT
Felix McDonald, aged 38, was convicted and sentenced for a severe and extended domestic assault campaign against his partner, Claire Gill, in Fife. The court was told that McDonald repeatedly slapped, punched, and kicked Ms.
Gill both on the head and body, dragging her from their house in Glenrothes and forcing her to walk to her home in Murchison Court.
There, he continued his violent attack, punching and kicking her multiple times and grabbing her by the neck.
During the attack on October 10 last year, he intentionally slammed a window shut repeatedly to prevent neighbors from hearing her screams for help.
He also seized her mobile phone and threw it into the garden to hinder her from contacting the police.
McDonald, who has a prior conviction for culpable homicide in 2006, was granted bail in June 2015 but was found breaching bail conditions by visiting his ex-partner's home between October 1 and 5, shortly before the attack.
He has been on remand since October 12, 2015.
Initially denying a charge of attempted murder, he later pleaded guilty to assault to injury, a charge reduced from the original indictment.
The judge sentenced him to 18 months in prison, backdated to his remand date, and imposed a six-month supervised release order extending beyond his release, with warnings against any further breach of conditions.
