MAN JAILED FOR OFFERING VOUCHERS IN EXCHANGE FOR CHILD IMAGES
The offender, Dominic Winter, a 28-year-old man from Carlton Square in Carlton, Nottingham, was involved in a disturbing case where he offered to buy Amazon vouchers for a 14-year-old boy in exchange for nude pictures and videos.
Despite the agreement, Winter did not pay the teenager.
Nottingham Crown Court was informed about how Winter's actions tore apart the victim’s relationship with his stepmother after she discovered the messages exchanged.
When arrested, Winter admitted to swapping similar messages with other underage youths.
The court sentenced him to two years in prison, with additional penalties including a 10-year sex offender register and a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.
Judge Michael Auty KC stated, “Your purpose was to elicit photos of him in various states of undress and images of him touching himself and urinating on himself.
This was not just a one-off, he sent something in the region of 10 images.” The judge also emphasised the court’s duty to protect the most vulnerable in society, such as a 14-year-old boy, and expressed confusion about what motivates such behaviour.
The case detailed how Winter first contacted the victim on Snapchat in December 2020, initially in a polite and innocent manner, but then turning sexual, asking for photographs of private parts and offering money in return, which was never paid.
The victim’s relationship with his stepmother has been severely damaged, and he now struggles with trust and low self-esteem.
Winter pleaded guilty to sexual communication with a child and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
He has no prior convictions and is remorseful, working full-time at a salary of £29,000, with his job held for him pending sentencing.
