A man from Caernarfon has received a prison sentence after being found guilty of domestic abuse directed at his partner.
Dominic Patchett, aged 26 and residing on South Road, committed acts of deliberate strangulation and assault during a 12-month relationship, while under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
He appeared before Caernarfon Crown Court on April 16, following his conviction for strangulation and causing actual bodily harm through assault.
The court sentenced him to two years and three months imprisonment and issued a restraining order lasting ten years to safeguard the victim.
Detective Constable Dominique Swift, who led the investigation, commented: “The victim endured shocking and horrific abuse during her relationship with Patchett.
Her bravery in coming forward to report his actions is commendable, and her experience highlights the lasting physical and emotional trauma caused.
I am pleased with the sentence, which communicates that such acts of violence will be met with consequences.
North Wales Police prioritize addressing violence against women, and we remain committed to pursuing justice against domestic violence offenders.
We hope this case encourages other victims to speak out and seek help.”
