FIFE SEX OFFENDER DEREK HOLLIDAY PERFORMS NUDE SEX ACT AT BEACH
Derek Holliday has been convicted again of a sex offence at a Fife beach. His latest offence was committed three years after the pensioner carried out an identical sex act on the Eden course in St Andrews.
Holliday, 74, was seen performing a nude sex act at Dumbarnie Links beach in Fife, which horrified two women who witnessed him.
They observed him sitting naked and masturbating with his legs apart from about 20 to 30 metres away around 1.50pm on May 10.
Prosecutor Alan Bell stated: “The witnesses initially believed him to be just shirtless.
He was approximately 20-to-30 metres away.
At some point, the witnesses observed the accused sat naked with his legs separated and masturbating with his right hand.
This continued and witnesses left due to feeling uncomfortable.” Holliday was detained at around 3.30pm and did not respond to officers.
He pleaded guilty in court to engaging in a sexual activity in the presence of the two women at the beach near Dumbarnie Links, between Upper Largo and Colinsburgh.
Previously, in 2022, he was convicted of a similar offence in St Andrews, as well as being found naked in a bird hide in Tayport.
He was also acquitted in 2012 of charges related to strolling naked on a beach while carrying male sex toys.
Holliday’s only other conviction involved a two-year prison sentence, which was reduced on appeal, for firearms offences in Kirkcaldy.
Sheriff Derek Hamilton placed Holliday on the sex offenders register on an interim basis ahead of sentencing scheduled for next month.
SENTENCING UPDATE 25/09/2025 Holliday was placed on a restriction of liberty order for eight months and must remain indoors between 12pm and 8pm.
He was also made subject to a stringent Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for six years which includes a specific requirement not to be naked in a place to which the public would have access.
The order was made as an alternative to custody, with Holliday subject to the sex offenders register for five years.
