SUNDERLAND MAN JAILED FOR STAMPING ON PREGNANT PARTNER CAUSING MISCARRIAGE
A man from Sunderland has been jailed for a campaign of domestic violence against two women—one of whom miscarried the day after he stamped on her stomach while she was 12 weeks pregnant.
David Straughan, 37, admitted multiple assaults, intentional strangulation, suffocation, threatening with a knife, and breaching restraining orders.
Newcastle Crown Court heard that one of his victims was subjected to repeated attacks, including being punched, strangled, and stamped on during pregnancy.
Straughan also attacked a second partner, including trying to suffocate her with a pillow and threatening her with a knife.
Both women have been left traumatised.
He was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison, with a 12-month extended licence period.
The judge said he posed a “significant risk of very serious harm to future partners.”
