PERSISTENT' SEX OFFENDER PERFORMED DISGUSTING ACTS IN FRONT OF YOUNG GIRL
David Robinson engaged in sexually inappropriate acts in front of a young girl, a court was told. The victim, who was of primary school age at the time, was subjected to these disturbing acts on two separate occasions.
During a sentencing session at Cardiff Crown Court, it was revealed that Robinson, aged 46, was convicted on June 23 this year of two charges of conducting sexual activities in front of a child, specifically when he masturbated in front of the girl on two different occasions.
The judge described the incidents as "appalling," and the court heard that Robinson, of Coity Road, Bridgend, caused his victim to feel afraid of being alone and made her uncomfortable around men.
The court heard a victim statement from the girl, presented by prosecutor Matthew Cobbe.
She expressed that she now feels anxious about being alone and has a sense of loneliness since the incidents.
The girl has received counselling but has found it difficult to discuss what happened directly.
She is also having trouble sleeping, experiencing repetitive nightmares, and reports feeling uncomfortable around men.
Defense lawyer Hashim Salmman pointed out that Robinson had prior convictions related to exposure in 2008 and 2010, but urged the court to consider the amount of time that had passed since then.
He described his client as generally low risk of reoffending but of medium risk for future sexual crimes.
Salmman also highlighted that Robinson had a history of witnessing and experiencing domestic violence in childhood, along with issues related to alcohol abuse, psychiatric treatment, and other health problems.
He noted that Robinson has been unemployed for the last four years.
Robinson received a prison term of two years and three months.
Additionally, an indefinite restraining order was imposed, requiring him to stay away from the victim, and he must register as a sex offender indefinitely.
An ongoing sexual harm prevention order was also put in place, along with a statutory surcharge of £181.
