SEX OFFENDER SENTENCED TO FIVE YEARS IN PRISON FOR POSSESSING INDECENT PHOTOS OF A CHILD
A man aged 36 from the Bridgend region has been sentenced to five years in prison after being convicted of several offenses involving a minor.
David Rainbow was found guilty by Cardiff Crown Court of encouraging a girl aged between 13 and 16 to partake in sexual acts, along with three counts of communicating sexually with a child and two charges related to possessing inappropriate images of a minor.
The criminal activity was uncovered when educational staff discovered explicit videos and pictures of the defendant on the mobile device belonging to the 14-year-old victim.
Detective Constable Louise Reynolds, who led the investigation, stated, 'This was an extremely distressing case, and I want to commend the girl for her courage in providing further details after the images were identified.' She added, 'I am very glad that David Rainbow has been held accountable for his heinous crimes, and that he is now incarcerated where he will remain for a significant period.'
