A 34-year-old man has been sentenced to prison after assaulting his partner, resulting in two fractures to her jaw.

On the morning of January 23, 2024, David Kilborn invited his partner to his Northampton home for drinks.

Soon after her arrival, he launched a violent attack, punching and kicking her multiple times in the face, which caused her to lose consciousness intermittently.

Following the assault, Kilborn told her she could not go to the hospital while she looked like that, and ordered her not to leave the house unless he approved.

Two days later, on January 25, the woman managed to contact a trusted friend, who helped her escape while Kilborn was in the shower.

The friend then drove her to the hospital, where medical staff confirmed she had broken her jaw in two places and needed metal plates and screws for treatment.

In addition to the jaw injury, she sustained a black eye, damage to her nasal wall, throat bruising, and pain in her ribcage.

During her hospital stay, Kilborn repeatedly sent her messages expressing his love and saying he wanted to marry her.

Despite this, she told him there was no possibility of reconciliation after what had happened and reported the incident to the police.

Kilborn was arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm.

He pleaded guilty in Northampton Crown Court and was sentenced last week, on August 23, to three years and four months imprisonment.
