HUDDERSFIELD MAN CAUGHT IN SEXUAL CHAT WITH POLICE DECOY, AVOIDS JAIL
A man named David Hoare, residing on Bath Street in Huddersfield, was involved in an incident where he attempted to engage in sexual activities with a person he believed was a young girl.
Hoare appeared at Minshull Street Crown Court after pleading guilty to charges of attempting to engage in sexual communications with a child and attempting to cause a child to watch an image of sexual activity.
The court was informed that on September 27, 2021, Hoare was on a chat platform in Greater Manchester and started communicating with an individual he thought was a 13-year-old girl.
Over several days, he engaged in sexual discussions, asking about her sexual preferences.
Unbeknownst to him, he was chatting with a police decoy, not a real minor.
The conversations resumed in January 2022 after a four-month gap, during which Hoare used a webcam and exposed himself, believing the girl was watching.
The judge, Mark Savill, described Hoare's actions as "disgusting" but acknowledged his previous good character and lack of prior offenses.
Hoare was sentenced to seven months in prison, suspended for 18 months, and was subject to a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years.
Additionally, he was ordered to attend 30 days of rehabilitation, complete 100 hours of unpaid work, wear an electronic tag for two months, and stay at his residence between 7 pm and 7 am during this period.
