HUDDERSFIELD MAN SENTENCED FOR INVITING 14-YEAR-OLD BOY INTO HOUSE AND GIVING DRUGS

A Crosland Moor man who invited a schoolboy into his home and gave him drugs has been jailed.David Foleher, of Blackmoorfoot Road, picked the 14-year-old up from school and supplied him with mind-altering drugs.

He had been banned from having unsupervised contact with children as part of a sexual offences prevention order.

The indefinite order was imposed by a crown court judge following the 22-year-old’s convictions of offences including attempted rape and sexual assault on a child.

Appearing from custody via a prison video link, today at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court Foleher pleaded guilty to two charges of an act prohibited by a sexual offences prevention order.

In 2011 he was handed the order at Bradford Crown Court for offences of attempted rape on a girl aged under 13, sexual assault on a girl aged under 13 and inciting a girl to engage in sexual activity.

As part of the sexual offences prevention order, Foleher was banned from having unsupervised contact with a child aged under 16.

But on March 12 police were told that he had befriended a child and been spending time with him at his home.

Andy Wills, prosecuting, said: “His mum was concerned that her son had been spending time with an older man.

Because of concerns police became involved.” The boy was interviewed on camera and said that he was introduced to Foleher by a man who was aged over 18.

Mr Wills said: “He said that both he and his brother went back to the defendant’s house.

Whilst they were within the house it is alleged that the defendant gave them a legal high.

At first they thought it was a cigarette but they both felt funny and fell asleep.” The Huddersfield court heard that the youngster returned to Foleher’s home the following day.

The child asked him what he was been given and Foleher claimed that he had given him a ‘spliff’ by mistake.

Mr Wills said: “He said he went there three or four times, usually after school and usually on his own.

His older brother was aware of this but his mum and dad were not told” Magistrates were told that the boy also played on the PlayStation while there.

His mum became concerned after noting that her son’s demeanour had changed.

Mr Wills said: “He appeared to have been on something and was a lot more angry.” Police were called after the boy’s father saw him coming out of Foleher’s address.

He later knocked on the door but it had been locked and there was no reply.

Foleher was described as immature and having underlying mental health issues.

Magistrates told him that he will serve his six- month sentence in youth detention.
