A yoga instructor from Peebles has faced allegations of racially threatening his spouse.
David Christie, aged 71, has denied the charges, which are said to have taken place between December 2021 and April 2022 at the couple’s residence on Dalatho Street.
The accusations state that he engaged in a racially aggravated pattern of behavior towards his partner, which involved frequent shouting, swearing, and the use of racially offensive and derogatory language.
This conduct reportedly left her feeling fearful and distressed.
A court hearing has been scheduled at Selkirk Sheriff Court to address the case.

A Peebles yoga instructor fell out with his Russian-born wife (Fifty-three-year-old Natalia Petrova ) over the war in Ukraine, Selkirk Sheriff Court has been told.
David Christie, 71, pleaded guilty to engaging in a racially aggravated course of conduct at their home in Dalatho Street in 2022 by repeatedly shouting and swearing
and making offensive and derogatory remarks towards her.
Prosecutor Sofia Ramzan said the couple been married for five years but the relationship began to decline after Covid and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The woman made three recordings of arguments between December 2021 and April 2022 which contained offensive comments.
Christie’s lawyer said the woman was convicted of assaulting his client last October and after that she produced the recordings from 2022.
Sheriff Peter Paterson deferred sentence until August 31 for good behaviour and continued consideration of a non-harassment order.
