PERVERT 'SENT AUBERGINE EMOJI' TO SCHOOLGIRL IN FACEBOOK MESSAGES
An intoxicated man who contacted a minor girl through Facebook, asking for pictures and using suggestive emojis, has been sentenced to prison.Daniel Pinkney received a 10-month imprisonment after confessing to engaging in sexual communications with a minor on the day of his court hearing.
Court records from Teesside Crown Court revealed that the 33-year-old had been messaging a teenage girl on Facebook during an evening marked by heavy drinking and sexting.
The prosecutor, Anthony Pettengell, explained that early in their exchange, the girl identified her age and questioned Pinkney about his motives.
Pinkney replied by saying he was not aware of her age but continued communications, proposing to send her a smile-inducing image and asking her to reciprocate.
It was reported that Pinkney was seeking photographs from the girl and had sent emojis like an aubergine and water droplets, which are often associated with sexually suggestive content.
The girl preserved screenshots of the messages before deleting them and subsequently informed her mother, prompting police action.
Defense attorney Harry Crowson pointed out that Pinkney did not know the girl personally and was heavily intoxicated at the time of the incident.
He also stated that Pinkney denied having any sexual interest in children.
The court heard that Pinkney was concurrently involved in sexual conversations with multiple adults.
The girl’s mother submitted a statement indicating that the incident and the threat of a trial had an adverse effect on their family.
Pinkney, who appeared via a video link from jail, initially denied but later admitted to engaging in sexual communications with the minor.
Judge Marco Giuliani explained that while Pinkney’s heavy intoxication might explain his behaviour, it does not justify it.
The judge also highlighted the trauma inflicted on the girl, who now fears encountering Pinkney in public.
Previously of Stockton but currently without a fixed residence, Pinkney was sentenced to ten months in prison and ordered to stay away from the victim for five years through a sexual harm prevention order.
