DANIEL HEMPSALL, MANSFIELD LORRY DRIVER, SENTENCED FOR RAPE OF UNDERAGE GIRL
A Mansfield-based lorry driver, Daniel Hempsall, aged 38, has been sentenced to more than six years in prison after admitting to raping a minor.
The assault occurred in December 2020, and Hempsall was arrested shortly afterward.
During his police interview, Hempsall remained silent, but he later pleaded guilty to one count of rape.
He was sentenced to six years and two months at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, January 21.
Police officials expressed satisfaction with the severity of the sentence, highlighting the importance of pursuing justice in cases of sexual assault.
Detective Constable Alan Braisby of Nottinghamshire Police stated, "Rapes and other sexual assaults have a lasting impact on victims, and are among the most serious offences we are tasked with investigating.
When incidents like this are reported to us, we will leave no stone unturned in our pursuit of justice—as Hempsall has now learned.
I am pleased he has admitted to this appalling offence and is beginning a significant jail sentence." Hempsall has also been permanently placed on the sex offenders register.
