DARWEN MAN FINED FOR THREATENING EX AND HER NEW PARTNER
A man named Daniel Clarke reacted angrily upon discovering that his estranged wife, Sarah Clarke, had moved in with her new partner, Geoffrey Redman, who is a hairdresser.According to the court, Clarke sent threatening and abusive messages to his wife and her new partner in the days leading up to Christmas, which included threatening to kill them.
Magistrates heard that Clarke made the discovery while out on his work’s Christmas party and admitted he was angry and upset about the situation.
He pleaded guilty to harassing Sarah Clarke and Geoffrey Redman, resulting in a fine of £500, a £50 victim surcharge, and £85 in costs.
Additionally, he was issued a restraining order for 12 months, preventing any contact with the victims.
Sazeeda Ismail, the prosecutor, revealed that Mrs.
Clarke and her husband had split in June of the previous year, and she had moved out.
Tensions escalated just before Christmas when Clarke mentioned the hairdresser, referring to Mr.
Redman as a 'dead man' and calling his wife abusive names.
Mrs.
Clarke blocked Clarke on WhatsApp, after which he resorted to sending text messages, one of which stated that her death was his 'only wish,' and he threatened to kill their cat, Millie.
The court was told that Mrs.
Clarke was alarmed and worried about her current partner's safety.
Mr.
Redman received messages that expressed Clarke’s hope that he 'got what he deserved for Christmas' and included the phrase 'tick tock you little rat.' Clarke insisted he had known Mr.
Redman for years and was not telling the truth when Redman claimed he had never met Clarke before.
He further explained that she had run off with him and that he had moved on and was not bothered anymore.
