CWMBRAN MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL DOMESTIC ABUSE AND THREATS TO KILL
Daniel Adams, aged 27 and from Cwmbran, has been convicted of multiple severe acts of domestic violence against his partner, with whom he has a young child.Evidence presented at court shows that Adams had previously damaged household appliances like a microwave, washing machine, and iPhone.
On January 28, he poured petrol on his partner and threatened to kill her following an argument over locating his phone.
The woman involved stated that they had been in a relationship for six years.
Police responded to a distress call around noon, during which a woman was heard saying, "Leave me alone Dan," before the call was disconnected.
In the incident, Adams returned to the home after initially fleeing, climbing a ladder to re-enter.
Once inside, he assaulted his partner physically—pushing, kicking, punching, and strangling her for approximately ten seconds—and spat at her face.
He also grabbed her hair as he tried to pull her up from the floor and was rummaging through her belongings.
Adams repeatedly threatened to douse her with petrol and set her alight, even pouring fuel onto her face, neck, and eyes, which caused her pain and burning sensations.
Their young child was present during the entire ordeal.
The following day, January 29, Adams handed himself into police after calming down and pleaded guilty to charges including intentional strangulation, assault causing actual bodily harm, and criminal damage.
His previous cautions involved threatening behavior and property destruction.
Incidents before the current case include kicking a baby gate, smashing a window, damaging an iPhone on January 18, and on January 24, throwing a spoon while damaging household items such as a washing machine door, microwave, and television bracket.
Adams was sentenced at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court to 12 months in prison, with a split of six months served in custody and the rest on licence.
The court's judge described his actions as "a very serious case of domestic abuse" and pointed out that Adams poses a high risk of violence to both his partner and the general public.
The court also considered his mental health struggles stemming from childhood domestic abuse, his remorse, and his reliance on alcohol and drugs.
The article emphasizes the importance of support services like Women’s Aid and SupportLine for domestic abuse victims.
It also shows that Adams’s behavior highlights the danger posed by domestic violence, which can result in imprisonment and continued risk assessment.
