FRASERBURGH MAN HANDED COMMUNITY SERVICE FOR ASSAULT ON GIRLFRIEND
Damian Whyte, a 21-year-old man residing near Fraserburgh, has been convicted for a series of violent offenses and has received a community-based penalty. He admitted to assaulting his partner by pushing and kicking her, as well as pushing and shouting at members of the public and damaging property.
The court heard that on April 21, Whyte's behavior escalated after an argument with his partner over money.
He was observed acting erratically at Fraserburgh’s bus station, approaching individuals, shouting, and aggressively striking the bus shelter and a parked vehicle.
His partner eventually retrieved him from the scene, where he had pushed a woman and got into a scuffle with a man.
CCTV footage uncovered that Whyte forcefully pushed his partner and then kicked her on the buttocks and torso multiple times.
When police arrived, he was confrontational and asked a sergeant if he wanted to 'get it,' before being restrained.
His partner initially denied being attacked, but CCTV evidence proved otherwise, showing Whyte kicking her repeatedly to the stomach and body.
The court considered his actions serious and imposed a sentence of 300 hours of unpaid community work to be completed within a year, along with 18 months of supervision.
The sheriff noted the gravity of the offences, especially the attack on the mother of his child, and stated he could have been sent to prison but chose community service as an alternative.
