DALE ROWLANDS AND KEVIN RADCLIFFE FROM PWLLHELI SENTENCED FOR EXPLOITING VULNERABLE TEEN GIRL
In a case that has shocked the community of Pwllheli, two men have been sentenced to prison for their involvement in serious sexual offences against a teenage girl who was described as particularly vulnerable due to her age and personal circumstances.In September 2016, Dale Rowlands, aged 25, of Parciau, Mynytho, Pwllheli, pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to the creation and possession of indecent images.
Specifically, he admitted to eight counts of making and possessing such images, alongside a charge of possessing cannabis with intent to supply.
The court heard that Rowlands was arrested after authorities discovered explicit messages and media on the mobile phone of the young girl, who had been communicating with him.
Prosecutor Matthew Corbett-Jones revealed that the girl had sent videos and images to Rowlands, which played a significant role in the case.
Kevin Radcliffe, aged 23, of Morfa Garreg, Pwllheli, also pleaded guilty to a serious offence—inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
The evidence presented in court indicated that Radcliffe had encouraged the girl to film and send an indecent video of herself.
The social media conversations between Radcliffe and the girl were central to establishing his guilt.
Both men were handed substantial prison sentences.
Rowlands was sentenced to three years and three months in prison, while Radcliffe received a sentence of 32 months.
Additionally, the court imposed sexual harm prevention orders on both individuals, requiring them to register as sex offenders and adhere to specific restrictions aimed at protecting the public.
Judge Hughes addressed the court, emphasizing the girl’s vulnerability due to her age and background.
He expressed concern about the long-term impact of the offences, stating, “When she grows up and realises what she agreed to do on your behalf she will be horrified.” The judge also noted that the pre-sentence reports indicated both Rowlands and Radcliffe did not fully accept responsibility for their actions, which influenced the severity of their sentences.
This case highlights the ongoing issues surrounding online exploitation and the importance of safeguarding vulnerable young people from predatory behaviour, especially within close-knit communities like Pwllheli.
