MAN JAILED FOR CAMPAIGN OF ABUSE ON EX-PARTNER
A man has received a prison sentence after committing a series of abusive acts against his former partner.Jordan Davies, who resides on High Street in Pwllheli, appeared before Caernarfon Crown Court to be sentenced on Friday, March 27.
Previously, on March 5, he admitted guilt in a case at Caernarfon Magistrates Court, pleading guilty to controlling and coercive behavior as well as threatening to share explicit images or videos of an individual.
The misconduct occurred between March and July 2025, targeting Shannon Haywood.
The court was told that Davies and Ms Haywood had started a relationship in March, but also had a prior history together.
Prosecutor William Griffin explained that within just two weeks of their relationship, tensions arose, with Davies becoming argumentative and accusatory.
He was reported to have verbally abused Ms Haywood, called her derogatory names, and threatened to stab her and harm her family.
On May 8, 2025, Ms Haywood went on holiday to Turkey with her family.
During this period, Davies continued sending messages, accusing her of sleeping with Turkish men, and again made threats to her and her family, as well as threatening to reveal private images she had previously shared.
Davies was arrested in June, and a domestic violence protection order was issued to safeguard Ms Haywood.
Nonetheless, he violated this order by contacting her through messaging apps and attempting to add her on Snapchat, leading to his re-arrest.
The court also noted that Davies had prior convictions, including a case of malicious communications in 2020.
The harassment left Ms Haywood feeling anxious and afraid of social visits, the court heard.
Richard Edwards, defending that Davies struggles with mental health issues, acknowledging that he has not fully come to terms with his condition.
He stated, "He accepts that he has gone overboard and doesn't seek to blame the victim in this case." Recorder Duncan Bould described the case as involving lengthy pages of threats and abuse.
Passing sentence, he remarked that Davies had exerted significant control over Ms Haywood and repeatedly threatened her and her family, instilling fear.
Ultimately, Davies was sentenced to 28 months in prison, with a restraining order placed for ten years to prevent any contact.
