LEICESTER MAN, 43, JAILED FOR 'DISGRACEFUL' TREATMENT OF YOUNG WOMAN
A married Leicester man, Craig Thompson, started a relationship with an 18-year-old woman in April of the previous year, during which he controlled and abused her, having "complete power over her".
He threatened her pet dog if she didn't comply and bombarded her with abusive messages and threats, including threats to harm himself and her.
Thompson was jailed for 12 months after being found guilty of using controlling or coercive behaviour between April and October last year, and stalking involving fear of violence in October 2024.
The victim, who gave birth to Thompson's child in May, stated: "I can't leave the house.
I'm so concerned he'll find me and climb through my windows and get me." The judge also ordered an indefinite restraining order banning Thompson from ever contacting her again.
Thompson's sentencing followed a trial where he failed to appear for the second day, being convicted in absentia.
The court noted his background of childhood trauma and mental health issues, but condemned his conduct as disgraceful and appalling.
