MAN JAILED FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING ELDERLY WOMAN
A 38-year-old man from Nottingham, Craig Bacon, was convicted of sexually assaulting an elderly woman in her own home.
The victim, a woman in her 70s who uses a mobility scooter, repeatedly told Bacon to leave her alone as he touched her inappropriately, followed her into the bathroom, and then got into her bed.
Despite her protests and her hitting him with her crutch, Bacon persisted.
He called her a 'miserable cow' and left, but soon returned, crawling next to her bed, which prompted her to call the police.
Bacon turned himself in shortly after and was charged with sexual assault.
The trial lasted two days at Nottingham Crown Court, where a jury convicted him after hours of deliberation.
Judge Michael Auty KC sentenced Bacon to two years in jail and placed him on the sex offender register for ten years.
The judge described the offence as outrageous, highlighting the victim's vulnerability and the breach of her trust, noting she had been generous in letting him stay in her home and was a lady of a certain age.
