An abusive man named Corey Webb repeatedly strangled his ex partner and dug his fingers into her throat to the point where she thought she was going to die.The victim described the impact of the attack, stating that she "lost her sparkle" and no longer recognizes herself.
Webb, 28, from Cwmbran, entered her home while intoxicated on May 4, became argumentative, and snatched her phone to prevent her from calling the police.
He then began pushing her, grabbed her hair, and threw her to the floor while threatening her, saying "I don't care, you think I won't kill you?".
During the assault, he used "significant force," pinning her down with his legs and strangling her by digging his fingers into her neck, which caused her to think she was going to die.
She suffered injuries including a fractured throat.
The victim reported severe emotional and physical pain, panic attacks, and feelings of isolation after the incident.
Webb ignored her pleas and continued to threaten her, later remaining at the scene until 6am when she reassured him she wouldn't call the police.
She sought medical attention at a hospital where her injuries were documented.
Webb later pleaded guilty to two counts of intentional strangulation and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, with a history of previous violent convictions.
He was sentenced to 27 months in prison and ordered to serve a five-year restraining order.
