COLIN MACDONALD FROM DENNY AND FALKIRK FREED DESPITE SEXUAL THREATS AND DISTURBING REMARKS
In October 2007, a disturbing case unfolded involving Colin Macdonald, a convicted sex offender from Denny and Falkirk, who was controversially released from prison despite alarming claims and behavior that raised serious concerns about public safety.Macdonald, aged 33 at the time, had been serving a six-year sentence for the attempted rape of an 11-year-old girl. His release was granted after a high court judge dismissed a Crown application to try him for making threatening remarks to prison staff, which prosecutors argued constituted a breach of the peace. The decision sparked widespread criticism and concern among law enforcement and the community.
Macdonald’s criminal history was grave. In 2002, he was imprisoned for his sickening attack on the young girl in Denny, Stirlingshire. During these interviews, Macdonald made disturbing references to notorious child killers such as Soham murderer Ian Huntley, along with his victims Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, both aged 10. He also mentioned Roy Whiting, the child sex offender responsible for the murder of seven-year-old Sarah Payne in 2000.
Further revelations emerged during the assessments. Macdonald openly declared that he was a dangerous predator who had not been rehabilitated during his time at Peterhead Prison.
