DOMESTIC ABUSE IN DENNY SEES OFFENDER SEND PARTNER PICTURE OF HIS INJURED WRIST
Reece Micallef, aged 36, shared a photo of his wounded wrist with his on-again, off-again partner, remarking, “you can watch me bleed out.” His actions were characterized as a clear pattern of domestic violence, a behavior courts encounter frequently.Micallef appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday after admitting to threats—repeatedly intimidating a woman and threatening to self-harm—in Denny’s Barnego Road, between December 1, 2024, and May 4, 2025.
Procurator fiscal depute Bernadette Cuthbertson explained: “This was a tumultuous three-year relationship.
Around Christmas, the complainant’s mother visited after being contacted by her daughter.
They were in the living room when he was shouting aggressively at her.
Witnesses saw him throw an object at her and then drive off in his car, leaving both witnesses frightened and concerned.” Following this, Micallef sent his partner multiple messages questioning her fidelity and her kisses, also sending a photo of his injured wrist with the comment, “you can watch me bleed out – it will be your fault.” It was also revealed that Micallef was experiencing mental health difficulties related to various aspects of his life at that time, and that the relationship was essentially over as he was now in a new relationship.
Sheriff Christopher Shead remarked: “This court sees this behavior frequently—it’s a identifiable pattern of domestic abuse.
Supervision is necessary because of your conduct.” He imposed an 18-month supervised community payback order requiring Micallef to perform 160 hours of unpaid work within a year and banned him from contacting his ex-partner for two years through a non-harassment order.
