CLACKMANNANSHIRE OFFENDER BACK IN THE DOCK — ALLEGATIONS OF FRESH ONLINE OFFENCES WHILE UNDER ORDERS
A man previously convicted of serious online sexual offences involving a child is now understood to be back in custody, facing fresh allegations of similar behaviour.Paul Duncan Dennett Thompson, previously sentenced at Alloa Sheriff Court in June 2025 after admitting offences including online grooming and sexual communication with a child, had been made subject to strict legal controls.
These included registration requirements under the Sex Offenders Register and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), both designed to restrict his behaviour and protect the public.
At the time of his sentencing, the court heard that Thompson had engaged in explicit communication with someone he believed to be a 14-year-old child.
He was handed a custodial sentence of 215 days and placed under long-term monitoring conditions.
However, it is now being reported that Thompson has once again come to the attention of authorities.
He has allegedly been involved in further online activity of a similar nature and has since been arrested.
He is currently on remand while the matter progresses through the courts.
Details of the latest case remain limited at this stage, and formal charges or outcomes have not yet been fully outlined in open court.
As such, these new allegations should be treated as unproven until determined by legal proceedings.
What is clear, however, is that cases of repeat offending — particularly where individuals are already subject to court-imposed restrictions — are treated seriously by the courts.
Breaches of SHPO conditions or further sexual communication offences can carry significant custodial penalties.
This case is likely to draw further scrutiny as it develops, particularly given the prior conviction and the safeguarding concerns involved.
Further updates are expected following upcoming court hearings.
