In 2024, Scottish authorities initiated an investigation following reports of a five-week-old baby suffering serious injuries that required hospital treatment.
A man named Aidan was detained and accused of causing harm to the infant, and subsequent legal proceedings led to his conviction.
The emergency response was triggered when concerns were raised about an injury to the child's right arm, prompting her transport to Forth Valley Royal Hospital for evaluation.
Medical examinations, including X-rays, confirmed a broken right humerus.
During the assessment, clinicians also found a 6mm bruise on the tip of the baby’s right earlobe and two linear contusions or scratches under her right side of the neck, measuring roughly 30mm and 40mm.
The infant, aged just five weeks, was placed in the paediatric ward for comprehensive care and observation.
Following a referral from the Scottish Ambulance Service, social work services were brought in to review her case.
The involved individual is expected to be released from custody next month.
