SCOTTISH MAN JAILED FOR LIFE FOR FRENZIED MURDER OF PARTNER OVER AFFAIR ACCUSATIONS

Colin Kennedy, 63 years old, was sentenced to life imprisonment at the High Court in Glasgow for the frenzied murder of his partner, Catherine Stewart.

The attack occurred on 4 July 2021 at their home in North Lanarkshire, after Kennedy accused her of having an affair with his son from a previous relationship.

Kennedy, who claimed he was mentally ill at the time, was convicted of a crime driven by intense anger and rage, as prosecutors argued.

The court heard that his assault was extremely violent, and a daughter of the couple found Catherine lying in a pool of blood after the attack.

Kennedy initially admitted stabbing her, stating he 'just kept hitting her.' The prosecutor described the murder as a 'cowardly attack of malevolent and wholly murderous butchery,' warning that Kennedy was a jealous, unhappy man suffering from stress and relationship breakdown.

Kennedy, who had seven children, believed his partner was secretly seeing her stepson, Colin Llewellyn, with whom he had also made a covert recording during the trial.

The court emphasized the brutal nature of the killing and Kennedy’s prior threats, including a warning he made to his son about killing his mother.

The judge described the murder as premeditated and motivated by sustained anger.

Kennedy was ordered to serve a minimum of 25 years before being eligible for parole.
