CHRISTOPHER MCQUADE SENTENCED FOR RAPE AND ABUSE IN FIFE AND KIRKCALDY

A man named Christopher McQuade, who carried out a series of violent and abusive acts in the Fife area, has been sentenced to prison after a series of heinous crimes that included rape, physical assault, and emotional abuse. The court heard that McQuade, aged 40 and residing in Morven Grove, Kirkcaldy, subjected multiple women to his violent and manipulative behavior over several years, with his actions culminating in a brutal sexual assault that led to his conviction.

McQuade’s criminal history stretches back to 2008, when he first detained a woman against her will at a residence in Lochgelly. During this incident, he assaulted her by throwing a book that struck her on the head, and then physically restrained her by grabbing her clothes and dragging her. Witnesses reported that he pulled her hair, shouted abusive language, twisted her arm, and forcibly took her mobile phone, removing the SIM card before hurling the device at her. This pattern of violence was not isolated, as between February and August of that year, he continued to pursue the same woman, shouting and swearing at her in the streets of Lochgelly, even pulling her hair during these confrontations.

In addition to these assaults, McQuade was responsible for damaging property, notably smashing the windscreen of the woman’s car after a heated argument. His aggressive behavior extended beyond verbal abuse, as he also committed a breach of the peace by shouting, swearing, and causing damage to her vehicle.

His violent tendencies escalated further in October 2015, when he attacked a second woman at a house in Kirkcaldy. During this assault, he forcibly molested her and used physical force against her. Prior to the attack, he had demanded sex from her, shouting and swearing, and made derogatory remarks. The victim was pregnant at the time, and McQuade’s assault included kicking her pet cat, adding a disturbing element to his pattern of cruelty. The court also heard that earlier in 2015, he assaulted this woman again, despite her pregnancy, further demonstrating his pattern of violence and disregard for her well-being.

During the trial at the High Court in Edinburgh, McQuade denied the allegations, claiming that he did not assault the pregnant woman by seizing her throat, as she described. He also insisted that he had never been physically violent towards the women he was accused of attacking. McQuade, who served in the Army as a teenager before working as a security guard, maintained his innocence throughout the proceedings.

However, the court found him guilty of six charges, including the rape of the woman in Kirkcaldy. The judge, Lord Young, sentenced McQuade to be placed on the sex offenders’ register and remanded him into custody. At the time of sentencing, McQuade was on bail, and the court deferred the final sentence until next month to allow for a comprehensive background report to be prepared. The case highlights a disturbing pattern of violence and abuse carried out by McQuade over several years in the Fife region, leaving a trail of trauma and fear among his victims.
