CHRISTOPHER MCKEE FROM LINCOLN SENTENCED FOR STALKING TEENAGE GIRL IN NOTTINGHAM
In April 2018, a serious case of stalking involving a man from Lincoln has resulted in legal action and a court-mandated intervention.Christopher McKee, a resident of Rasen Lane in Lincoln, was found guilty of obsessively following a teenage girl during her daily commute to school, an act that prompted authorities to impose a comprehensive sex offender treatment plan.
At Nottingham Crown Court on Monday, April 16, McKee was sentenced to a three-year community order.
This order includes participation in a sex offender rehabilitation program and the requirement to complete 200 hours of unpaid work over the course of 12 months.
The court's decision came after McKee pleaded guilty to one count of stalking and three counts of possessing indecent images, highlighting the severity of his actions and the need for ongoing supervision.
Detective Constable Amy Revill, who led the investigation, expressed her satisfaction with the outcome, emphasizing the importance of taking stalking allegations seriously, especially when the victim is a minor.
She urged anyone who suspects they are being targeted or has concerns about stalking to report such incidents promptly by calling 101, the police non-emergency number.
The troubling case traces back to September 2015, when McKee began working in Nottingham.
His daily routine involved catching a train, during which he first observed the teenage girl, who was only 13 years old at the time.
Over the following months, McKee's obsession grew as he sought out personal information about her.
In 2017, he went as far as sending her packages containing personalized CDs and postcards, which he had obtained her home address for.
On one occasion, the girl was handed a flyer that contained notes written by McKee himself, further demonstrating his intrusive behavior.
Authorities identified McKee through CCTV footage captured at a Post Office, where he was seen sending the parcels.
His arrest occurred when British Transport Police officers detained him as he disembarked from a train.
During the search, they discovered journals spanning two years, in which McKee detailed his thoughts and desires concerning the girl.
Additionally, they found a camera containing photographs of her taken without her knowledge, along with other indecent images stored on his hard drives.
As part of the sentencing, McKee was also issued a five-year sexual harm prevention order, which restricts his contact with minors and limits his movements.
He is required to register as a sex offender for five years and is prohibited from being at Nottingham train station or traveling on Nottingham trams.
Furthermore, authorities ordered the retention of his electronic devices, which contained illegal images, to prevent further misuse.
This case underscores the importance of vigilance and swift law enforcement response in protecting vulnerable individuals from predatory behavior.
The investigation and subsequent sentencing serve as a reminder that stalking, especially involving minors, is a grave offense that warrants serious consequences.
