CHRISTOPHER COUPER'S SHOCKING CRUELTY IN MACCLESFIELD: PUPPY DRAGGING INCIDENT REVEALS BRUTALITY

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Macclesfield, Christopher Couper, born in 1986 and formerly residing on Park Brook Road, was involved in a heinous act of animal cruelty that drew the attention of local authorities and animal welfare organizations. The incident, which took place in December 2015 on Somerton Road, involved Couper dragging a 12-week-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppy named Roxy along the pavement, causing her significant pain and injuries.

Witnesses in the area reported seeing Couper forcefully pulling Roxy, who was clearly distressed and squealing loudly as she was dragged across the ground. The young dog’s suffering was evident, with her paws, chin, and stomach sustaining multiple injuries, including extensive bruising and open wounds. The scene prompted concerned members of the public to contact the RSPCA, alarmed by the apparent abuse unfolding before their eyes.

RSPCA Inspector Heather Morris responded promptly to the reports and confronted Couper at the scene. During her interaction, Couper attempted to justify his actions by claiming that Roxy, being a young puppy, had a habit of sitting down during walks. He further stated that he was intoxicated at the time, which he suggested might explain his behavior. Inspector Morris recounted that Couper said, “Couper said that Roxy, being a young puppy, had a habit of sitting down while being walked. She did this while Couper was walking her on this occasion, and instead of stopping with her, he dragged her along very roughly on the pavement and was witnessed shouting abuse and swearing at the young, frightened dog.”

Despite his excuses, the inspector made it clear that intoxication is no justification for animal cruelty. Witnesses observed Couper lifting Roxy by her lead, dangling her from her collar, before abruptly running away and leaving the injured puppy behind. The public’s intervention was crucial in preventing further harm, and Roxy was subsequently taken into the care of the RSPCA.

Following her rescue, Roxy was provided with necessary medical treatment and gradually recovered from her ordeal. The case against Couper was taken seriously, leading to a court hearing where he was sentenced to a four-week curfew, ordered to pay a total of £525 in costs, and was banned from keeping any animals for a period of five years. This case highlighted the importance of animal welfare and the need for strict enforcement against cruelty in the Macclesfield area.

Further details about Couper’s criminal record reveal a history of violent offenses, including an attack on a girlfriend and other incidents, which can be found in local news archives such as the Macclesfield Express. These incidents underscore a pattern of concerning behavior that has drawn ongoing scrutiny from law enforcement and community members alike.
