STOCKTON MAN JAILED FOR ASSAULT ON EX DURING SCHOOL PICK-UP
A former soldier turned offender, Christopher Briggs, aged 36, from Stockton, was involved in an incident where he pushed his ex-partner to the ground outside a Stockton school during a dispute on September 12 last year.
The incident occurred during school pick-up time, and Briggs's actions resulted in the victim falling onto grass and hitting her head.
Briggs, who is currently unemployed but working towards a qualification to work on offshore oil rigs, pleaded guilty to the assault.
In court, defence barrister David Ward stated that Briggs was 'very frustrated' and 'accepts that he behaved in an awful way.' Judge David Gordon told Briggs that personal issues between them 'must be resolved through solicitors or the courts.' The court sentenced Briggs to an 18-month court order, requiring him to attend 20 days of rehabilitation, including a 'skills for relationships' course, and to complete 100 hours of unpaid work.
Additionally, Briggs was subjected to a five-year restraining order banning him from contacting his ex-partner.
