RAPIST GETS LIFE IN PRISON FOR 'HORRIFIC' ATTACKS
Catalin Horhota, who has no fixed address, was convicted on nine separate charges, including rape and sexual assault. The court heard that the 42-year-old committed a rape inside a residence and returned an hour later to commit another sexual assault, after stealing a set of keys.
He was sentenced to a minimum term of nine years and six months before he becomes eligible for parole.
His convictions include one count of rape, two counts of attempted rape, three counts of sexual assault, one count of assault by penetration, one count of exposure, and burglary.
The burglaries occurred when Horhota broke into a property on Morrell Avenue, opposite South Park in Oxford, on September 17 of the previous year, stealing food.
Two days later, he assaulted a woman at a nearby address in Headington.
Approximately an hour afterward, he returned to the same address and sexually assaulted her again.
That victim was then assaulted a third time by Horhota at the same location.
On September 20, he inappropriately touched a woman in South Park.
The final incident was on September 22, 2015, when Horhota exposed himself in Abingdon.
Following the sentencing, Detective Constable David Rogers commented: “While the crimes are disturbing, I want to reassure the public that such offences by Horhota are uncommon.”
