CARL POTTER SENTENCED IN LINCOLN FOR INAPPROPRIATE COMMENTS TO TEENAGE GIRLS
In November 2020, a disturbing incident occurred on the streets of Lincoln involving Carl Potter, a 33-year-old man whose actions drew significant concern from local residents and law enforcement alike.According to reports, Potter approached two teenage schoolgirls on Monks Road during the early morning hours around 7:30 am.
The first girl, whom he did not know, was subjected to a series of highly inappropriate sexual comments.
The situation escalated when a friend of the initial girl arrived at the scene and witnessed Potter making the same lewd remarks.
Eyewitnesses and police reports indicate that during the encounter, Potter was seen with his hand inside his trousers, an act that added a disturbing dimension to his misconduct.
The girls, understandably distressed by the encounter, reported the incident to authorities, prompting an immediate investigation.
Following the report, law enforcement officers swiftly moved to arrest Potter.
At the time of his arrest, he was identified as having no fixed address, which complicated efforts to locate him prior to the incident.
Despite denying the charges of sexual communications with a child, Potter was ultimately found guilty in Lincoln Crown Court.
His sentencing included a 12-month term for the sexual communication offense.
Additionally, he received an extra four months for breaching a previously suspended sentence related to a stalking offence.
The court also mandated that Potter be placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for a period of ten years.
Furthermore, he was subjected to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which will supersede the standard ten-year registration period.
Since his arrest, Potter has been held on remand, awaiting the outcome of his legal proceedings.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about public safety and the importance of swift law enforcement response to incidents involving vulnerable individuals in Lincoln.
