BENIAM TSELAY CAUGHT IN HANLEY: ONLINE GROOMING PLOT ENDS IN 16-MONTH PRISON SENTENCE
A man aged 37, identified as Beniam Tsegay, has been handed a prison sentence of 16 months following his attempt to meet a girl he believed was only 14 years old.The incident unfolded after Tsegay engaged in a series of online conversations where he discussed plans to meet the minor and engage in sexual activities.
His actions raised serious concerns about online safety and the dangers posed by predators who exploit digital platforms to target vulnerable youths.
His arrest and subsequent conviction came after a paedophile hunter, acting on information and surveillance footage, recorded Tsegay outside a shopping centre in Hanley.
The footage captured the moment the man was confronted about his intentions, revealing his attempt to meet the underage girl in person.
