PERVERT JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AFTER STALKING WOMAN THROUGH STOKE-ON-TRENT
Alaadin Osman, who is 23 years old, assaulted a student under the influence of alcohol in a quiet park, leading her to fear she might be raped. The incident occurred around 3am when the victim was leaving Hanley's Fiction nightclub.
She declined Osman’s advances, believing he had left the scene.
However, he later grabbed her right arm and forced her onto a bench close to Hanley Central Mosque on Regent Road.
During the assault, he licked her hand and put her fingers in his mouth.
She pushed him away and moved to walk away.
Osman then followed her into Hanley Park, pushing her shoulder, which caused her to fall backwards.
He then climbed on top of her, and out of fear she thought she was going to be raped, she punched him in the face.
Osman escaped the scene but was arrested later that day and has remained in custody since.
He was sentenced to 48 weeks in prison at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, which is expected to result in his immediate release.
The victim suffered scratches and redness on her arms, and she said she no longer feels safe going out at night.
She also reported experiencing panic attacks.
Osman, who resides on Harding Road in Hanley and came to the UK from Sudan in 2015, pleaded guilty to charges of sexual assault and common assault.
He denied attempting to commit a sexual offence with intent, and a not guilty verdict was recorded for that charge.
Judge Paul Glenn told Osman that despite the victim’s clear statement of disinterest, he followed her for the most part, walking alongside her.
The judge recounted how she asked strangers not to leave her because Osman was following her.
After initially leaving, Osman reappeared on Regent Road, grabbing her and forcing her onto a bench, licking her hand, and placing her fingers in his mouth.
He then pushed her shoulder from behind, causing her to fall onto her back.
The judge emphasized that the victim believed she was about to be raped.
She defended herself by punching Osman, then screamed, prompting him to flee.
The judge also mentioned that Osman’s sentence is likely to lead to his immediate release from prison and will not automatically result in deportation.
