SCORES OF MEN JAILED FOR A COMBINED 346 YEARS FOR SEXUALLY ABUSING YOUNG GIRLS
Dozens of men, mainly from Dewsbury, Batley, and Spenborough, have been handed down a combined total of 346 years in prison for perpetrating sexual abuse against young girls.
The sentencing took place at Leeds Crown Court on April 26, marking a key phase in Operation Tourway, a large-scale police investigation into the sexual exploitation of minors in North Kirklees.
So far, 25 men have been convicted and sentenced for their involvement in the rape, trafficking, and abuse of eight young girls between 1999 and 2012.
One defendant received a sentence of more than 30 years during the court case.
The majority of the trials initially had reporting restrictions to safeguard the identities of those involved and to guarantee fair legal processes.
With these restrictions now lifted, the names of 24 men and the details of their sentences can be fully disclosed to the public.
Asif Ali, aged 53 and from Batley, sentenced to 24 years for 14 counts of rape, two offences of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and offences of trafficking for sexual exploitation, intentionally encouraging or assisting an offender and aiding, abetting or procuring rape.
